Fun with math

Fresno State professor Carol Fry Bohlin really gets into math! Her colleagues at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics annual conference voted her the winner of the license plate contest for her “Math2Go” plates.

Says Bohlin: “I believe my Math2Go license plate captures well the purpose of my car: the trunk is filled with mathematics materials for the courses that I teach at Fresno State, for the math classes I teach at my son’s elementary school, and for the professional development workshops I provide.

“My car is always on the go to a math-related event! The registration sticker is April – Mathematics Education Month! The license plate holder tells who owns the car, a “pair o’ docs” – two professors (my husband Roy and I) who teach at Fresno State.”

Some 20,000 teachers and math educators attended the conference in Anaheim. Among the attendees were 20 of Bohlin’s graduate students, who attended for professional development and networking experience.
