 The Division of Continuing and Global Education has been awarded a $100,000 grant by the Bernard Osher Foundation for the creation of an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. more

Guaranteed Transfer Program announced
The presidents and chancellors of 15 colleges and universities who are members of the Central Valley Higher Education Consortium have teamed up to improve the number of Valley students who earn their associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. more

Victimology symposium
The biggest names worldwide in the emerging field of victimology came to Fresno State for four days in April for the 3rd American Symposium on Victimology, focusing on victim rights, victim services and theoretical developments in the Americas. more

Franz reviews 20 years of EA&D
 Dr. John Franz, director of the Employee Assistance and Development program, will leave the position after 20 years of service and return to teaching in the Social Work Education Department effective in the fall. more

Jumpstart hosts children’s author
Deborah Guarino, author of the award winning children’s book “Is Your Mama a Llama?” will speak about her role in early literacy Wednesday, May 11, at 3 p.m. in University Center 200. Admission is free, and a book signing will occur shortly after.  more  

Dr. Vincent Bloom dies
Dr. Vincent Bloom, a former chair of the communication department who championed academic integrity in athletics, died March 30 after a brief illness. more

Commencement is May 21
The 94th Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. in the Save Mart Center. Commencement Week activities will feature 20 different events, all on campus this year. Events begin on Friday, May 20, with six college or school convocations, several department programs throughout the day and the Graduate Degree Hooding Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. more
