Jumpstart Fresno Corps 2006-2007
Jumpstart Fresno was started at California State University, Fresno in Fall 2001, and is located in the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning. With its solid emphasis on service to the community, Fresno State continues to provide strong support to Jumpstart in the program's continued growth. In Fall 2006, a new partnership was begun with Fresno City College, allowing Jumpstart to continue growing and providing opportunities for many more students to serve the children and families in Fresno.
Now in its sixth year, Jumpstart Fresno has recruited a dedicated Corps of 109 members, reflecting the vast diversity of California's Central Valley. Our program draws Corps members from an assortment of majors, including Liberal Studies, Psychology, and Marketing, among many others. In the 2006-07 year, our Corps of 109 tutors is working at full strength at our eight program partners in Fresno: Joyce M. Huggins Center, Campus Children's Center, Head Start Funston, Head Start Dakota Circle, Head Start Millbrook, Head Start Yosemite, Head Start Wesley, and Head Start Kings Canyon. Our broad scope has allowed us to have an even greater impact on the Fresno community and our efforts to work toward the day that every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
Jumpstart builds school success, family involvement and future teachers -
one child at a time.
