KUpon his induction into the baseball hall of fame, 90.7 KFSR honored Lon Simmons, the longtime radio voice of the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Athletics with a special radio tribute. For three years in the 1950's, Simmons was the radio voice for Fresno State sports on KMJ, including baseball, football and basketball. He left the Valley in 1957 to become the voice of San Francisco 49'ers and a
year later, the San Francisco Giants. In July of this year, Simmons was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, joining his longtime radio partner Russ Hodges. The broadcast tells of Simmons’ career in broadcasting, mainly in his own words – including rarely heard archival audio from Lon's half century in broadcasting.
