Start your weekend off right, every Friday from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM with Jazz, Blues and More. Each week Roger Gonzales plays an eclectic mix of music ranging from Paul DeLay to The Swan Silvertones, from Kurt Elling to the Buena Vista Social Club and much more.
Roger's passion for music goes far beyond his work on 90.7 KFSR. In fact, Roger is one the Valley's top harmonica players, and is well versed in both jazz and blues. Roger's music career began when he picked up a harmonica at the tender age of 37. After six months in the music school of hard knocks, Roger sought a mentor. He was fortunate to find harmonica master Eddie Gordon as his mentor and continues to be under his tutelage. Returning to college in his forties, Roger has since completed his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Music Education at CSUF.
For the past five years Roger has been teaching for Fresno Unified School District as a Band and Choir teacher and also maintains a busy performance schedule. In July 2005, Roger's music was featured in the CSU Summer Arts TV special "Summer Arts Celebrates the Blues" which was the winner of the prestigious "Silver Telly" award, and was broadcast on KVPT Valley Public Television. In the past he has hosted 90.7 KFSR's "Morning Jazz" and "Monday Night Blues" programs. His current program "Jazz Blues and More" can be heard Fridays from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM on 90.7 KFSR.
