 Longtime Fresno radio listeners may recognize a new familiar voice on the radio these days. Vern Selland, one time host of Jazz Beat on KMJ, has joined the 90.7 KFSR family bringing his knowledge and love of the music to a new generation of Valley jazz fans. And Vern is not only a longtime radio host, but also a jazz vocalist, who is still active to this day.
“Vern brings such great experience to our programming lineup,” says Joe Moore, 90.7 KFSR Station Manager. “Years ago, he helped bring Dave Brubeck’s Quartet to Fresno State for the first time, so as you might imagine Vern has some great stories to share with our audience.”
Listeners can expect to hear some great mainsteam jazz on Vern’s program, which even shares the same theme song, Oscar Pettiford’s Blues In the Closet, that Jazz Beat has so many years ago.
