One
of the newest additions to KFSR’s weekend lineup, etown,
brings live recordings of world class artists, with a social
conscience to the airwaves of the Valley. Founded in 1991, etown
is a nationally syndicated radio show heard 52 weeks a year on over
150 stations across the US. Every etown show is taped in front of a
live audience, and features performances from many of today’s top
musical artists as well as thought-provoking interviews and the
presentation of the e-chievement award recognizing everyday people
who have made a difference in their community or environment.
Nothing
crosses boundaries and borders more effectively and quickly than a
great song. And, while music attracts etown’s listeners, the
message connects them. On every show, listeners learn something new
and are inspired to make a difference. Delivering the best acts in
the business is what etown does week-in and week-out. Here is a
short list that exemplifies the diversity and talent that cross the
etown stage every week: Ani DiFranco, Bela Fleck, Ben Harper, Beth
Orton, Buckwheat Zydeco, Buddy Guy, Chris Isaak, Cowboy Junkies
David Crosby & Graham Nash, David Gray, Doc Watson, Emmylou
Harris, Ferron, Flaco Jimenez,Guy Clark, Indigo Girls, JJ Cale, Jack

addition to great musical guests, each week, Nick Forster interviews
an author, scientist, poet, politician, policy-maker, farmer,
entrepreneur, or citizen about some aspect of our world and
community. Some of those featured have included: naturalist Jane
Goodall, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Jimmy Carter, educator
Patricia Limerick, and humorist Dave Barry.
Each
week, etown also showcases one outstanding community
activitst or volunteer who receives the popular e-chievement award
each week. One step at a time. That’s how things change. That’s
how problems are solved. That’s the message delivered each week as
etown presents the prestigious e-chievement award,
recognizing individuals and organizations around the country that
have found positive solutions to problems in their communities.
Award winners are nominated by our listeners and include people like
Chad Pregracke, age 25 of East Moline, Illinois, who has personally
cleaned up 1500 miles of shoreline of the Mississippi River.
