05/19/07 - Our guest on this edition of The Pulse is Jack Chubb, CEO of Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Community recently completed its long planned consolidation of services from the former University Medical Center to the new CRMC campus in Downtown Fresno. CRMC is the flagship hospital for Community Medical Centers and the only Level 1 trauma and burn center between Sacramento and Los Angeles, as well as the Valley's only high-risk pregnancy and birthing center, and is home to the largest emergency room in the state of California. Mike is the Product Commercialization Manager for the Technology Development Center at Fresno State's Lyles Center. Mike is an accomplished inventor, with such products as the TERI Stick (Throwable Emergency Rescue Inflatable Stick) an emergency flotation device which is now used by police and fire rescue teams. The Central Valley Fund is a venture capital fund with a focus on small to medium sized companies, in traditional industries in the Valley. The CVF provides private capital to finance later stage growth, strategic acquisitions, ownership transitions and recapitalizations. It was the first venture capital fund to focus on the Valley when it began in 2005, and it now has over $100 million to invest in the area.
