is featuring interviews with a Valley authors selected to read
their works at the River Center. These in depth interviews
provide an insight into the lives of the authors, and in most
cases feature readings from their works as well.

week our guest is local historian and author Cathy Rehart,
author of the Valley's Legends and Legacies. We'll talk about
Cathy's research, about the importance of study the history of
the Valley, and what it can tell us about the city and county
we live in today. We'll also hear an except from one of
Cathy's books from a reading recorded at the Coke Hallowell
Center for River Studies as part of the San Joaquin River
Parkway and Conservation Trust's new monthly "Respite By
the River" series.

week our guest is noted Valley author and farmer David Mas
Masumoto. His new book, Letters from the Valley: A Harvest
of Memories is a collection of essays capturing the life
and spirit of a farming valley, her people and places, written
from the point of view of a native son and a father. We'll
talk about his career as both a writer and a farmer, and his
upcoming appearance at the San Joaquin River Parkway's Respite
by the River event.
