Valley Press was created by Valley Public Television in 1989 as a "local meet the press" public affairs program. Its purpose is to respond to current issues, news makers and politicians on a weekly basis. Over 450 shows have been produced. Valley Press brings valley viewers a weekly array of news makers and reporters discussing the top news story of the week. Guests have included California legislators, members of Congress, the Governor of California, the state's treasurer, the vice president of the United States, and a member of the British House of Lords. Jim Tucker has been practicing the fine art of moderating between reporters and news makers from local to national prominence on Valley Press for over 15 years. In addition, Tucker produces and moderates political debates and local specials. A member of the Fresno State journalism faculty since 1968, his areas of expertise include media writing, news reporting, editing, mass media and society, and broadcast news. Tucker has worked as a newspaper reporter, radio newsman, announcer, and magazine editor.
