KFSR relies on
support from listeners for much of our general operating support -
the basic infrastructure, business and personnel costs that are
required to keep KFSR on the air. KFSR is a non-commercial radio
station, and while we do enjoy the support of local businesses
through underwriting, we are legally not allowed to sell commercials
like conventional radio stations. KFSR employs just one full time
staff member, in addition to five Fresno State students who work for
the station part time. Fresno State provides additional support to
KFSR, but that comes nowhere near covering our operating expenses.
Thus, we need your support to help keep KFSR on the air, bringing
you the best programming possible.
Programming:
KFSR plays over 70
hours of jazz each week. From the legends of the past like Duke
Ellington and Miles Davis, to the innovators of today - KFSR is the Valley's
HOME for jazz.
KFSR also brings
the Valley an eclectic
mix of musical styles, from the newest jazzy electronic sounds,
to world music, indie pop & rock reggae, folk, r&b and much
more. And KFSR continues to support local musicians, providing an
outlet for their work on the radio.
KFSR also produces
a number of high quality local public affairs programs, like the
weekly interview program San
Joaquin Spotlight, The
Pulse, Fresno
State Weekly, and more. We also produce local specials like our
series of readings by prominent Valley authors recorded live at the
San Joaquin River Parkway's River Center. We also bring you select
nationally distributed programs like Euroquest
and What's the
Word.
