Counseling, Special Education, & Rehabilitation
The Department of Counseling, Special Education, & Rehabilitation offers a variety of exciting educational opportunities for postbaccalaureate students seeking professional careers in the fields of Counseling or Special Education. All programs are fully accredited and are recognized for excellence and innovation.
Our Counselor Education program offers the Master of Science (MS) Degree in Counseling with options in Marriage and Family Therapy (which includes child therapy), and Counseling and Student Services (K-12 or higher education counseling), and the MS Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. We also offer the California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential for students seeking a career in school counseling.
We have earned special recognition from the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (WACES) by receiving the Exemplary Program Award for outstanding innovations in providing professional preparation for counselors. The MS Degree in Counseling with option in Marriage and Family Therapy is CACREP Accredited, and the Rehabilitation Counseling program is CORE Accredited and is ranked among the top 20 programs in the country by US News & World Report .
Our Special Education program offers the Preliminary Level I (including an Internship Program) and Professional Level II Education Specialist Credentials in Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe Disabilities, and a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Special Education. We also offer a Dual Certification Program with provides for earning both the Preliminary Level I Education Specialist Credential along with the Multiple Subjects basic teaching credential. Our programs are innovative, NCATE accredited and promote excellence in the special education field.
