Welcome to the Department of Educational Leadership!

The Educational Leadership faculty are committed to offering the most professional and stimulating program in educational leadership possible. The program has been recently accredited by NCATE and the CCTC and has received accolades from district leadership in the surrounding areas.

The program aims to provide students with instructional leadership content knowledge, transformational leadership skills, theoretical background for practice, and research skills to be able to identify valid best-practices. Students who graduate with a Master’s degree and credential are highly sought educational leaders at school sites, in district offices, and in higher education.

We hope you will discover the passion our faculty has towards preparing educational leaders as you review the information in our website. We thank you for your interest in our program, and hope to see you in class!

Linda Hauser, Chair

Department Overview

The department offers a Master of Arts degree in Education with an option in Educational Leadership and Administration. A core mission of the Educational Leadership and Administration Program is to prepare credible and relevant leaders in education. To meet this mission, our students may pursue one of two distinct pathways towards P-12 leadership or Higher Education, Administration, and Leadership (HEAL).

Educational Leadership and Administration

P-12 Leadership

The Master of Arts in Education with an option in educational leadership and administration is a 31-unit degree program. Students in the P-12 leadership pathway complete a program of study leading to the Master of Arts degree in Education and a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential that provides authorization to function in an administrative position in a P-12 school setting and can be attained while completing the Master's degree program.

Higher Education, Administration, and Leadership (HEAL)

Students in the Higher Education, Administration, and Leadership (HEAL) pathway complete a program of study leading to the Master of Arts degree in Education. Students completing this program of study will be prepared to enter careers across organizational levels in community colleges, universities, and other educational agencies.

The Department of Educational Leadership sponsors one graduate degree and offers coursework in support of all the education graduate and credential programs. Consequently, departmental faculty are involved in some fashion in nearly all formal school programs.
