Christian Wandeler

Dr. Christian Wandeler is an Assistant Professor at California State University, Fresno in the Department of Educational Research and Administration.  He received his Masters in Psychology from University of Fribourg-Freiburg, Switzerland and his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Wandeler currently teaches courses in educational research and statistics. His research interests include the development of human potential at learning places such as the workplace and schools. Past research projects have focused on motivation, hope, competency development and performance in vocational trainings and schools; reading motivation of 4th graders, the conceptions of teaching of workplace trainers, and the equity of academic selection processes. Now he is interested to explore how elements of the Swiss vocational system (a collaboration between private and public organizations) could help the US educational system.

Otto Benavides

Otto Benavides is the Director of the Instructional Technology and Resource Center for the Kremen School of Education and Human Development and Director of the NASA Educator Resource Center. He is also faculty in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction California State University, Fresno. Otto represents the California State University, Fresno Academic Senate. Otto is an Advisory Board member of the California Learning Resource Network and President of the Board of Directors of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology International Division. He is a Board Member of the ECT Foundation and the President of ICEM - International Council for Educational Media.

Donald Wise, Ph.D.
Don Wise


Dr. Donald Wise has been an educator for over 35 years.  After graduating from college, he lived in Colombia as a Peace Corps volunteer, learned Spanish, and eventually married a woman from Colombia.  After teaching in the US for a few years, the family then spent the next 18 years living in four different countries where Dr. Wise was a teacher, principal, and school superintendent at five different international schools.  While overseas, he “commuted” for several years to the US to complete his master’s and doctoral degrees.

The entire family is bilingual English-Spanish and the daughter currently teaches in Colombia.  Dr. Wise began his tenure at Fresno State in 1999 as a professor of Educational Leadership and Administration and currently teaches courses at the master’s and doctoral levels.  He also works as an executive coach to superintendents and principals in a number of local school districts through the Central Valley Educational Leadership Institute (CVELI).  Additionally, Dr. Wise does extensive work with the government of Guatemala in developing an executive coaching program for school directors.  Dr. Wise also teaches a graduate course each summer in Merida, Mexico, at the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán.
