- 1:24,000 (7.5-Minute) Maps
- The Map Library has the current quadrangles in the 1:24,000 topographic map sets for the 19 western states (from North Dakota south to Texas and west). We also have superseded quadrangles for California.
- Search the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS)
- The GNIS is a database of over 2 million physical and cultural geographic features in the United States. Search for a place or feature name and
display the full record to get a list of USGS 7.5-minute quads on which the feature is shown.

- Select 1:24,000 - 7.5 Minute to browse a list of map sheets by state;
or click on the Map Locator to zoom in on your site;
or use the Search options, including keyword and geographic point (latitude/longitude) searching.
- Index Maps
- Index maps show the arrangement, names, and area of coverage of individual maps (quadrangles) within a set (e.g., California 7.5-minute topos).
- The index maps for California quadrangles are next to the Map Library service desk. Ask at the service desk for index maps of other states.

- Gives the 7.5- or 15-minute quad name for many locations.

- Map Finder
- Records for over 300,000 maps catalogued by the American Geographical Society. Use it to identify on which USGS topo, AMS topo, and nautical chart a place has appeared. Records can be retrieved by searching the USGS populated places file containing about 170,000 United States cities and towns. Use the Geographic Coordinate search to locate maps for other places.

- Many of these lists refer to specific collections and are not necessarily comprehensive.
- Historical USGS Topographical Maps of California owned by the Los Angeles Public Library
- Scales include 1:24,000, 1:62,500, 1:31,680, 1:125,000 and 1:250,000.
- Historical Topographic Maps
- Lists USGS topographic maps held by the California State University, Northridge, Geography Maps Library. For California, there are lists of maps in the 1:24,000, 1:31,800, 1:62,500, 1:125,000, and 1:250,000 scale series. For 31 other states, there are lists of maps from the 1:125,000 series. For four of those states there are lists of maps in the 1:250,000 series as well.
- Colorado Topographic Maps
- Lists of quadrangle names of Colorado topographic maps (by the USGS except as noted) for the following scales: 1:24,000, 1:25,000 (DMA), 1:31,680, 1:48,000, 1:50,000 (DMA), 1:62,500, 1:125,000, 1:250,000. Arthur Lakes Library, Map Room, Colorado School of Mines.

- Lists compiled by the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology of:
State and Regional Maps (mainly 1:1,000,000); County Maps;
1- by 2-degree quadrangles (mainly 1:250,000); 30-minute and 1-degree quadrangles (mainly 1:125,000); 30x60-minute quadrangles (mainly 1:100,000); 15-minute quadrangles (mainly 1:48,000 or 1:62,500); 7.5-minute quadrangles (mainly 1:24,000).
- Nevada USGS Topographic Maps
- Nevada topographic maps in the 7.5-minute, 15-minute, and other series, in the Nevada State Library and Archives' Federal Publications collection. These maps are primarily recent maps produced since the 1950s.

- USGS 6-minute (1:24,000) topos from the 1920s and 1930s were scanned and saved as gif images by the California Geographical Survey, Department of Geography, California State University, Northridge.
