 | The Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band has much to offer. The Band and Colorguard consist of students with many different majors at the university. There are no entrance auditions required, and interested students are strongly encouraged to join the fun.
While we are proud of some of our members like those who have been all-state first chair players, Disneyland, Disney World, and Euro-Disney band members, All-American McDonald's band members, Concord Blue Devils and Santa Clara Vanguard soloists and leaders, we are equally proud of each and every member. Everyone is important in this program! We want every person to march who has a good attitude toward the continued growth of the Bulldog Marching Band! The tradition of excellence and pride continues at Fresno State. The last five years have been exciting for Fresno State Bands. Dr. Lawrence R. Sutherland and the Wind Ensemble were featured at Carnegie Hall and the Bulldog Marching Band has become extremely successful under the leadership of Dr. Gary P. Gilroy. 2006 brings many changes for the band program. With Dr. Gary P. Gilroy appointed Director of Bands and Mr. Timothy T. Anderson taking over as Director of Athletic Bands, we look forward to an awesome year. Scholarship opportunities are outstanding here at Fresno State! In 2002-03, the bands program issued nearly $100,000 in scholarships. The awards ranged from $200 to $2,500, with the high percentage going to low brass players. Our bands enjoy a new state-of-the-art Music Building, which houses three computer labs complete with Internet access and MIDI keyboards, wonderful rehearsal and performance facilities, and five recording studios.
