Math Field Day
Each spring the Department of Mathematics holds its Math Field Day. The next Field Day will take place Saturday, April 19, 2008 at California State University, Fresno. The purpose of this event is to provide capable students with the opportunity to meet and compete with students from other schools and to receive the recognition that they so richly deserve.
We believe that this event provides a unique learning situation for students, and that recognition of their participation will serve to encourage continuation of their mathematical endeavors. Each student receives a copy of the test questions, with answers, immediately following the event and is given the opportunity to ask questions about the solutions. Each participant receives a certificate acknowledging participation in the Field Day, and awards are given to the highest finishers.
Detailed information about the rules, the contests, the awards, etc. can be found by accessing the appropriate links on the left bar of this page.
We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to involve both students and their advisors in a day designed for mathematical enrichment and enjoyment.
