Celebration of Research Projects (College of Science and Mathematics, California State University, Fresno 5/8/09)
On Friday May 08th, there was a celebration of Research Projects organized by the College of Science and Mathematics of California State University, Fresno. Posters from three math majors, Steven Zook (The Banach-Tarski paradox), Paul Savala (A group walks into a graph- Cayley representations of Cn[1,a]), and Iliana Perez (Urbanization and the cultural costs of international trade) were presented.

Pacific Coast Undergraduate Math Conference (University of California, Riverside 3/13-14/09)
On March 13-14 Dr. Tamas Forgacs took Fresno State students Whitney Walker, Ea Vue, Lan Saruwatari, David Chung, Leonardo Hernandez, Paul Savala, Ryan Trueblood and Gregory Mar to the Pacific Coast Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, in Riverside, CA. Coupled with Pi-Day, the conference's activities included two student paper sessions, an invited address by Luke Anderson (a.k.a. Pi Diddy - check out the Pi Rap Song at teachpi.org), lunch (including pie of course) and raffles, a Pi-recitation competition and a panel on job opportunities for math majors. Fun times were had by all, and many vowed to return next year to Pepperdine University, the conference's next location. We even celebrated Leo's birthday with frosties from Wendy's.
