Palm Springs Meeting

November 5-7, 2004

The 45th annual CMC-South Fall Conference is to be held Friday through Saturday, November 5-7, 2004 at the Palm Springs Convention Center and the Hilton, Hyatt, Spa and Wyndham Hotels. This year there will be a specific strand of the conference devoted to mathematics teacher education. These sessions will be held all day on Friday and Saturday morning. They will be followed by a special luncheon for those interested in mathematics teacher education.

You are invited to submit a proposal for a mathematics teacher education sessions. Sessions can be either presentations related to a specific issue or concern related to mathematics teacher education or a working session on such a topic.

Presentations will be 90 minutes in length. We encourage you to actively involve the participants in your presentation. Please introduce the mathematical content and focus at the beginning of your presentation and use the last few minutes of your time to help the participants reflect on your focus areas.

If your proposal is accepted, you will receive a $50 honorarium, complimentary registration, up to $65 reimbursement for materials given to participants ($100 for large session over 100 seats), and a travel expense reimbursement of 30 cents per mile. Speakers who ask for economy coach airfare reimbursement (maximum $300) are asked to give at least two presentations at CMC. Only one of those sessions will be part of this special Mathematics Teacher Education strand.

If you are representing a company, a publisher, or exhibitor, we expect that they will cover your travel costs. If you chose to have a co-presenter (one only), that person will receive complimentary registration only. The honorarium and other reimbursement expenses need to be shared. It is our expectation that speakers who are California residents are current members of CMC.
