Welcome to the California State University (CSU) Mathematics Education Resource Center (MERC). This virtual Center was established to support a vibrant, interactive community of mathematics educators across the 23-campus CSU system. MERC contains links to credentialing agencies, CSU campuses, and to useful web sites for mathematics educators. It includes descriptions of the mathematics courses required at the various CSU campuses for students desiring Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credentials, as well as courses recommended for teachers desiring a supplementary authorization in mathematics. Because MERC was developed as part of the "Face-to-Face and Cyberspace" project (funded by the CSU Chancellor's Office), the site also contains information about the "Face-to-Face" component of this project, a system-wide conference for CSU mathematics educators held at Asilomar in April 2002. An important component of MERC is the Mathematics
Educator Forum (MEF), a password-protected Blackboard-based site where
CSU instructors can exchange sample syllabi, assignments, interesting
problems, reports, and manuscripts. MEF also contains many useful links
and reports that can be easily downloaded. Within MEF, mathematics educators
can engage in collegial discussions about topics such as the design of
mathematics contents and methods courses, blended programs, and master's
programs. Unrestricted access to MEF is available to all California State
University (CSU) mathematics education faculty.
