Conflict Resolution Education in Teacher Education (CRETE)

Many teachers, counselors and administrators in rural and urban education environments

have difficulty with behavior management, student conflict and resolving professional differences with peers and/or parents. Creating constructive problem-solving environments is always an important goal of professionals working with children and families.

CRETE, funded by the US Department of Education since 2004, is a 4-day training on:

Positive discipline and classroom management
Conflict dynamics and conflict styles
Anger management and de-escalation
Bullying prevention
Dealing with disruptive students
Constructing caring classroom communities
Teaching negotiation and mediation skills
Professional disposition with respect to constructive conflict behavior.

CRETE/JAMS Grant implementers are inviting participants for the CRETE trainings to be held on Jan. 12 and 13 (Tuesday and Wednesday); Jan. 29 and 30 (Friday and Saturday), Training will start at 9am and end at 4:30pm each training day at SMITTCAMP ALUMNI HOUSE with catered meals. In order to receive a certificate of participation you must attend all 4 days of the training.

Participants will receive:

The Conflict Resolution Education certificate confirming your completion of the training
A Searchable CD-Rom with 500+ pages of lessons organized by subject area and educational level (K-8 or 7-12).
Additional training materials designed for immediate use in learning environments. FOR EXAMPLE, MATERIALS FOR PROFESSORS OF EDUCATION, COUNSELING AND ADMINISTRATION.
