About MEP MESA Engineering Program Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement is an academic enrichment program which helps educationally disadvantaged students excel in math and science and graduate from college with degrees in math-based fields. Founded in 1970, the program serves pre-college, community college and university students at over 90 sites throughout California. MEP, one of four MESA programs, assists university students enrolled in colleges of engineering and computer science so they will attain their degrees. MEP has been in
existence at CSU Fresno since 1983. The program includes:
MEP also advises and supports two university student organizations. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, SHPE, and the National Society of Black Engineers, NSBE, are local university chapters of nationally recognized societies. To the extent possible by law, MESA emphasizes participation by students from groups with low eligibility rates for college.
