Tony Mowrer
Tony Mowrer comes to California State University at Fresno after 27 years
of teaching experience at the high school and college levels. He received
his baccalaureate degree in music from Lubbock Christian University in Texas,
his Master's in music history from West Chester University, in Pennsylvania,
and his doctorate in music education from Temple University, also in Pennsylvania.
Most recently, Dr. Mowrer was the choir director at Yosemite High School,
in Oakhurst, CA. During the five years he was there, the choir program grew
30% and his choirs routinely received high ratings in regional festivals.
Several of his students were selected to participate in division and national
ACDA Honor Choirs. Dr. Mowrer is a member of the ACDA, MENC, and FMCMEA,
and serves as the Higher Education Representative for the CMEA Central Section.
He is active as a clinician and adjudicator and has done significant research
in advocacy for the arts.
