impounded vehicles

Impound may include immobilization (boot) and/or removal (tow) of the vehicle.

Traffic Operations may impound a vehicle for the following reasons:

Having five or more overdue parking citations on file, CVC 22651(i).
Displaying a lost/stolen parking permit.
Expired vehicle registration/tags
Illegally parked vehicles that cannot be identified (no license plate and unreadable/covered vehicle identification number (VIN).

An immobilized vehicle will be towed by 9:00 pm of the same day, if the following conditions have not been met:
