Welcome to PSYCH 10! As part of the instructional goals of this class, there is an associated Writing/Research Component. For a brief description of the Writing/Research Component, please go to The Basics. When you have finished reading The Basics, you can return to this page by clicking on Preparing Yourself.

There are a number of things that you need to do right away to make sure that you are prepared to start the PSYCH10 Writing/Research Component. Please follow the instructions below so that you will minimize the technical difficulties you may encounter in the future:

Step 1: Visit the website and obtain a copy of the information there

Everything you need to know about the PSYCH 10 Writing/Research Component is right here on the PSYCH 10 Writing/Research Component homepage. BOOKMARK IT NOW (http://psych.csufresno.edu/psych10). Please look at the material contained on this website, especially: The Basics, Writing Portion , and Research Portion.

Step 2: Prepare your csufresno.edu email account

The PSYCH10 Writing/Research Component will make extensive use of email. Because of the large number and variety of personal email accounts that students have, we will only send email to your csufresno.edu email account. Every registered student at CSU Fresno receives a free email account at this domain. See the FAQ for some common questions about checking this email account.

You MUST make sure that your inbox at this account is not "over quota". Although the university provides you with an email account, there is only a limited amount of space available to store your email. When your email account is ‘over quota’, it means that your stored messages are taking up too much space in your email account, and you can not receive any additional emails, because there is no room. If you haven't checked this email account in a long time, or ever, it is probably over quota. At this time, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you check your csufresno.edu email account to see if it is over quota. If it is, you should try doing one of the following:

  1. If you have a lot of email stored in your inbox, delete the older or unimportant messages.

  2. If you are accessing your email via the web, then you may have a full trash folder. Sometimes, if you move an email to the trash, it doesn’t get deleted until you tell the email system to permanently delete the trash. You can permanently delete the trash by clicking on “Folders” and then on the “Empty Trash” button that shows up next to the Trash folder.

  3. The help desk website (http://help.csufresno.edu/) has helpful information for you concerning cleaning out your account and freeing up space. You can also contact the help desk at (559) 278-7000 or help@csufresno.edu.

Step 3: Stay tuned for your Group Assignment and more instructions!

Everyone enrolled in PSYCH10 will be randomly assigned to a Group. Group Assignments will be made during the first few days of the semester, and will determine the due dates for your papers (see here for more information). Your Group Assignment will be sent to your csufresno.edu email account, so make sure you check it often! If you do not receive an email from us within one week of registering for the class (or within one week of the first day of class), write us an email at psych10reader@gmail.com to let us know. Please include your name, your University ID number, your section number for PSYCH 10, and the date you registered for the class.
