Spring Conference 2011
We are sorry to inform you that the conference was cancelled.
April 14, 2011
Dear members and friends of The Renaissance Group:
My purpose for posting this message on our website is to inform you that the Spring 2011 Conference scheduled for April 27-29 at the Wilmington Hilton Riverside, hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington has been canceled. All aspects of the three-day program (professional and social) planned for us by our colleagues at UNCW were outstanding, but unfortunately budgetary reductions at each of our member campuses, occurring almost daily since January, coupled with increased travel restrictions, significantly redirected our efforts and plans. I sincerely apologize for this change and for any hardship we may have caused, and hope you understand the challenges we all face during these difficult times.
The Governing Board of The Renaissance Group and I wish to express our gratitude and sincere appreciation to Chancellor De Paolo, Dr. Cathy Barlow, Provost and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Karen Wetherill, Dean of Watson School of Education, Administrative Assistants, Danette Brown and Janice Siko and the entire UNCW Educational Team for their support throughout the planning process, and especially for their most generous contributions of time and resources.
Furthermore, we wish to express our appreciation to Karen Morganti and to her staff at the Wilmington Riverside Hilton for working closely with us to support our meeting, catering and lodging needs during our event. We waited as long as possible before reaching our conclusion that canceling the Spring Conference was inevitable. We are keeping the Wilmington Riverside Hilton information on The Renaissance Group website for as long as possible and encourage you to consider their beautiful facility when traveling to Wilmington.
The Board of Governors Meeting will be held on the UNCW campus as planned, but we have changed the date to April 28. We have several significant projects and initiatives needing our attention as we continue to offer all members and friends of The Renaissance Group the highest possible level of service and support.
Note: Conference registration refunds will be processed for all participants during the next few days.
Finally, we ask that you start planning now and SAVE THE DATE for our Fall 2011 Meeting to be held as a joint conference by TRG and TECSCU on October 2-4 at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA.
We are planning a professionally rich program, to include nationally acclaimed educators like Dr. Pedro Noguera, and presentations of best practices in educator preparation programs, with a focus on effective partnerships.
Respectfully,
Michael Giovannetti, TRG Executive Director
