Tremendous opportunities at Fresno
State exist with ROTC and the National Guard. Service in the
National Guard qualifies for Tuition Assistance that will cover full
tuition at Fresno State! Additionally, students who complete both
Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training with the National Guard
receive Montgomery G.I. Bill benefits ($300 a month) plus receive a
kicker of $350 a month while in college. Upon
Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)
contracting with Army ROTC you will receive E-5 pay (Approximately $275)
and a ROTC monthly stipend ranging from $350 to $500 a month. SMP
cadets cannot be deployed while enrolled in ROTC. Almost sounds
too good to be true, but you could have all your tuition covered and
receive over $1,000 a month by doing just one weekend drill a month and
ROTC!
Army National Guard
(ARNG) Scholarships - This scholarship is specific to those students
who wish to stay in the National Guard upon commissioning.
Dedicated ARNG scholarships pay up to $20,000 tuition and fees per year
or room and Board up to a maximum of $10,000 per year. Scholarship
awardees receive a book allowance of $900 per year ($450/semester) and
receive the monthly tax-free stipend. These cadets also receive weekend
drill and annual training pay as participants in the
SMP.
