ABOUT SJVMP-STIR

SJVMP Supporting Teachers to Increase Retention (STIR) is a three-year professional development program designed to support middle and secondary mathematics teachers in order to keeping them in the teaching profession. Research tells us that 20% of new teachers leave within the first five years of teaching and that turn over in mathematics and science teachers is higher than in other subjects. This project is funded by a master grant awarded to the California Mathematics Project (CMP) by the California Post-Secondary Commission (CPEC) Improving Teacher Quality (ITQ) Grants Program.

The program will include summer institutes, follow-up activities, and involvement in supportive learning communities.
Our partners include:
Coalinga-Huron Unified School District
Caruthers Unified School District
Reef-Sunset Unified School District
Riverdale Unified School District
