About SMEC: Past and Present
The Science and Mathematics Education is an ancillary unit of the California State University, Fresno established in July, 2000 for the purpose of promoting, enhancing, and improving the preparation of future science and mathematics teachers for Central Valley classrooms and to provide continued professional development for practicing teachers. In addition, SMEC provides an array of advising services for preservice and inservice teachers at the level of undergraduate studies, credential studies, and for inservice teachers expanding their credential portfolios.
SMEC continues to be involved in a number of state and federally funded projects and serves as a primary incubator of grant proposal development with university and community college faculty as well as k-12 teachers.
