Transfer Students

If you are transferring to California State University-Fresno as a sophomore or beginning your junior year here and will be majoring in Criminology, you may qualify for the following:

Criminology 108 Internship Program

Students must be able to commit themselves for at least two years and meet the minimum requirements for California Peace Officer certification. Students will receive training and instruction from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office on both weekday evenings and on weekends and, if they pass all of the phases of training, they may become reserve deputy sheriffs with some part time paid employment and a good chance at permanent employment with the Sheriff's Office after graduation.

The Sheriff's Office will conduct a complete background investigation on all applications to the Crim 108 program, including but not limited to a psychological and polygraph (lie detector) exam, a physical agility and a drug test, a thorough criminal history and driving records check, interviews with neighbors, friends, former employers, etc.

Students will receive three units of college credit for each semester in which they participate in Crim 108. If you are physically fit (right now and not some time later) and meet the minimum requirements for peace officer status, contact Dr. Schweizer a few months before transferring to Fresno State.
