Patrick Crane is in his second year of the MSW program. He has long term goals of working with children and going into private practice. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fresno State. Patrick has worked in numerous social work settings and has gained a lot of experience from it. His most recent job was teaching Leadership and Resiliency to at-risk students in a classroom setting. Patrick loves the outdoors and maybe you see him riding his long board around campus. He is extremely outgoing and loves to meet new and exciting people. Patrick loves spending time with his best friend, his 12-year old lab named Milo.
Tyler Etcheverry is currently a graduate student in the Counseling program with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy here at Fresno State. She graduated from Clovis West High School in 2002 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fresno State in 2006. Tyler has worked on campus as a student assistant for the past four years starting off in Undergraduate Records, moving next to the Scholarship Office, and finally ending up at the Division of Graduate Studies where she currently works part-time. Tyler plans on graduating in May 2009 and completing her Pupil Personnel Services Credential by Fall 2009. After completing her education she looks forward to exploring her opportunities in both the mental health field and school counseling. Tyler also looks forward to having more time to travel and put her passport to good use.
Linda Hall is working towards her MS in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy. She anticipates graduating in May 2009 and working towards licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. In 2000, she and her two youngest daughters graduated with their bachelor’s degrees. Linda enjoys working with the college student population, children, and families. She plans to develop skills in teaching meditation, relaxation, and visualization to help clients with anxiety, depression, and other issues. She has had the good fortune of living in Korea, Germany, Japan, and several different states within the U.S. Linda enjoys spending time with her children and their families - especially her grandchildren! She is a life-long learner who enjoys reading and gardening.
Sara Kesl is a second year graduate student at Alliant International University, CSPP. She is currently working on her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Forensics. She completed her undergraduate work at SDSU and moved on to complete her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. At the completion of her doctorate, she plans to move back to the Central Coast (San Luis Obispo) to open private practice and be closer to her parents, siblings, and niece and nephews. Sara enjoys relaxing with friends and dreaming of her future French bulldog puppy, which her poor-student income does not currently allow her the luxury to afford. By the time she graduates in 2011, she hopes this is no longer the case.
Yuliana Martinez is a first year graduate student in the MSW program. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Fresno State in the Spring of 2008. Prior to graduation, she completed a one year internship at Sanger High School where she gained experience in academic and interpersonal counseling. She has a great passion to work with youth, especially those who are at-risk. Yuliana’s career goals are to receive the Pupil Personnel Services Credential and become a high school counselor. In her spare time, Yuliana likes to listen to music and spend time with her family.
Ian Ortiz-Nance is pursuing a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University through the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP). His anticipated year of completion is 2011 where he’ll continue on to licensing. Ian sought a career in the Aerospace business in 1999 which led him to international travel, as well as domestic travel. Unsatisfied with this choice, he decided to return to school and seek a career in psychology. Ian graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CSU Fresno the Spring of 2006. He currently works with a wide variety of age ranges (from age 3 to age 42) and would like to continue this wide spectrum in his own practice. His future plans, as a professional, are to work with the under-served population in the Central Valley. In what little spare time he has, Ian enjoys reading, spending time with his family, and weight training.
Janessa Radke will be graduating in May with her MS in counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, she will also be obtaining her Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Janessa completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communication from UC Santa Barbara in 2006. Though she has worked in the field of college admission and outreach both in Santa Barbara and here in the Central Valley, she is enjoying getting more experience in mental health counseling. Though unsure of her future career plans, she knows she would like to work on a high school or college campus in some capacity, whether in mental health or school counseling. In addition to her internship and classes, she coaches in the women’s basketball program at Clovis West High, where she played during high school. Known as the “organized one”, Janessa loves the ocean and visits as often as she can. She also enjoys photography, reading and traveling to other countries.
David Rocha is in his second and final year of the Master’s degree in Social Work Program at CSU Fresno. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at CSU Fresno in 2006. David has worked in previous internships at the Central Valley Regional Center in 2005 and most recently at the Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health, which ended in May 2008. He plans to work on requirements for licensure upon completion of the MSW program. David is currently employed with the Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program (DDTP), which is a state-mandated telephone distribution program to help facilitate communication for the deaf and disabled, throughout the State of California. David has enjoyed his employment with DDTP for the past eight years as it has allowed him to continue practicing his American Sign Language skills. David enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and children. He also loves to travel and go camping and fishing.
