Hallmark Awards 2007-2008

Greg Varela

Aleta Wolfe

Tina Beddall

Three staff members from the Division of Student Affairs were recognized for outstanding service at today’s State of the Division Address. Dr. Paul Oliaro presented Greg Varela, Aleta Wolfe, and Tina Beddall with the newly created Hallmark Awards.

Beddall received the Service Excellence Award (SEA), and Varela and Wolfe received the Beacon Awards, respectively. An external review team selected the three from a list of 18 nominees. This team consisted of Chris Fiorentino, Jody Hironaka-Juteau, Kathy Pawlowski, and Steve Martinez.

Dr. Oliaro noted that a “hallmark” is a term used for the stamp on gold and silver to ensure its purity. This practice originated in England and was particularly helpful when gold and silver was shipped overseas.

In keeping with that nautical theme as well as the Division’s FISH! philosophy, two Hallmark awards were created — the Service Excellence Award (SEA) and the Beacon Award.

The Service Excellence Award recognizes Student Affairs staff who have done an extraordinary job of fulfilling the vision of our Division Service Pledge during the past year.

The Beacon Awards recognize those who have made extraordinary contributions to our Division Mission and Essential Responsibilities that are the core of Student Affairs programs and services.

Other Hallmark Award Nominees were presented with a certificate by Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services, Bernie Vinovrski:

Rick Chacon, Dolores Charest, Tanya Crabb, Linda Ensch, Daryl Fitzgerald, Mary Hernandez, Jose Jauregui, Kristin Layous, Kevin McCully, Corina McDaniel Davis, Idalia Morgutia, Pam Pettice, Adrian Ramirez, Mica Vargas, Mehrzad Zarrin.
