2) Sign up (here) for a group advising workshop provided by the Office of Advising Services. (NOTE: This option is not available to students in the majors/programs in number 1 above.)

How to Contact an Advising Services Academic Counselor (Advisor)

CURRENT STUDENTS picture of graduation cap, diploma and books

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT: Call 559.278.1787 to schedule an appointment with an Academic Counselor, OR if you are on campus, you can make an appointment in person in the Joyal Administration Building, Room 224 (on the second floor, across the hall from the Financial Aid office).

WALK-IN WEDNESDAY: No appointment is needed on most Wednesdays during the regular academic year. You may drop in between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. or between 1:30 and 4:00 p.m. for a brief advising session with an academic counselor. Students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, and we cannot guarantee that all walk-ins will be seen. During the summer, Walk-in Wednesdays could be preempted for various reasons, so it is best to call the office to check before coming in. Summer Walk-in Wednesday hours will otherwise be 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Major Advising: If you are in need of advising specific to your MAJOR, please contact your major department.

UNDECLARED students will see an advisor in our office.

RETURNING STUDENTS

If you have attended Fresno State in the past and would like to return to complete your degree, please make an appointment to speak with an academic counselor. If you have attended other institutions since you were last here, it might be helpful to bring in copies of those transcripts to help your counselor better assist you.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER ATTENDED FRESNO STATE but you have been formally admitted to the university, you will need to attend DOG DAYS: New Student Orientation before you may speak with an academic counselor from our office. After you attend Dog Days, you are welcome to speak with a counselor.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER ATTENDED FRESNO STATE and have not been formally admitted to the university, please contact University Outreach Services.
