It's Time for Your Second-Semester Mandatory Advising!!

PLEASE READ the following announcement CAREFULLY!

If you are freshman who started at Fresno State last semester (fall 2009), it is time for your Second Semester Advising. Beginning Friday, February 19, registration will be blocked for all students who were first-time freshmen in fall 2009 until they have had their second semester advising. This means that you will NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER for fall classes on your assigned date (on or around April 30 th ) UNLESS YOU HAVE SASTISFIED THIS ADVISING REQUIREMENT.

Read on to see how you can satisfy the Second Semester Freshman Advising requirement!

IF you are a student in one of the following colleges or programs, you must contact your major or program advisor:

* Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

* Engineering and Construction Management students (LCOE)

* College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP)

* International Student Services Program (ISSP)

* Liberal Studies

* Pre-Business

* Pre-Nursing

* Smittcamp Family Honors College (Contact both Dr. Chapman for GE advising AND your departmental advisor for major advising)

* Student-Athletes

* Student Support Services (SSS)

* University Migrant Services (UMS)

ALL OTHER second-semester freshmen who are in Good Academic Standing (GPA 2.00 and higher) can satisfy the advising requirement by attending a 1-time, 1-hour large group advising session. Remember: You will not be able to register for fall classes during the priority registration week unless you have satisfied this requirement.

The mission of the Office of Advising Services is to empower undergraduate students by helping them take responsibility for achieving their academic and personal goals, and to support the university advising community.

SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT

Call 559.278.1787 to schedule an appointment with an Academic Counselor.

Walk-ins are available on a limited basis every Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:30am and 1:30 - 4:00pm. Students who choose to walk-in are seen on a first come basis. Students who are walk-ins are not guaranteed to see an academic counselor.

We are located near the corner of Maple and Shaw Avenues. To reach us from off-campus, take Shaw Avenue to Maple Avenue (the second stoplight east of Cedar). The Joyal Administration Building is the first building on the right. 30 minute parking is available in front of and at the east side of the building. You can also buy a $3 pass for the day. We are open during the school year from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Summer hours are from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
