Grants

grantsNext to scholarships, grants are the most attractive form of financial assistance because grants do not need to be repaid provided students maintain their grant eligibility. There are several sources for grants, including the Federal Government, the State of California and California State University, Fresno.

Federal Grants:

Federal grants consist of the Pell Grant and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant(FSEOG). The Pell grant is usually awarded to Undergraduates who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree and demonstrate eligibility. The SEOG is Awarded to undergraduates with exceptional financial need--that is, students with the lowest Expected Family Contributions (EFC)--with priority given to students who receive Federal Pell Grants. An FSEOG does not have to be paid back.

The Academic Competitive Grant (ACG) and the Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART) are two new grants for the 2006-2007 award year that qualified students may receive for no more than two years.

State Grants

The state grants consist of State University Grant(SUG), Graduate Equity Fellowship, California State Grant A,B,T, and the State Educational Opportunity Program.

Apply for financial aid (submit a FAFSA), as soon as possible after January 1, each year you are in school. Students are considered for all grants listed here upon submission of a FAFSA. Unfortunately, many funds are exhausted long before the FAFSA application period ends.  Please submit your FAFSA as early as possible to have the best opportunity for grant consideration.  If a supplemental application is required, eligible students will be contacted and encouraged to apply.
