Student Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How will I know if I have been referred to SupportNet?
You will receive an email from SupportNet letting you know that you have been referred to SupportNet. You may also receive a phone call from SupportNet staff asking you to set up an appointment with an adviser.
Note: If an instructor has not referred you to the program, but you think you would benefit from meeting with a SupportNet adviser, you may contact us via phone or email to set up an appointment.
What should I do if I am contacted by SupportNet?
First of all, remember, you are NOT “in trouble.” The SupportNet program is here to help you.
If you are contacted by the SupportNet program, please respond to us by phone (278-8370) or email (supportnet@csufresno.edu) to set up an appointment with a SupportNet adviser. You should also contact your instructor and let him/her know you are addressing his/her concerns.
What kind of assistance is available to me through SupportNet?
SupportNet works closely with a variety of campus offices. If your SupportNet adviser feels you would benefit from additional services on campus, you may be connected with another office that will support you on your path to success.
What should I expect when I meet with a SupportNet adviser?
During your meeting with a SupportNet adviser you will talk about the reason your instructor referred you to the program. You and the SupportNet adviser will then outline a “Student Success Plan” to set you on the path to success. In addition to establishing a “Student Success Plan,” the SupportNet adviser will help you determine your learning style, and improve time management skills and study strategies. Other campus resources that are available to support you may also be recommended.
Will my referral to SupportNet be put on my permanent record?
No, SupportNet student referrals will not appear on a student’s permanent record.
Who will know about my referral to SupportNet?
Maintaining confidentiality is important to the SupportNet staff. Only your professor, SupportNet staff, special program adviser, and any campus resources you have been referred to will know of your referral. In addition, we follow the guidelines set forth by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 34 CFR Part 99 (www.ed.gov).
