Here's a look at the Fall 2014 Welcome Week events.

Past Events

Welcome Wednesday

Wednesday, August 20, 2014
Time: 3-7 p.m.
Location: Maple Mall area, Outside Joyal Administration Bldg.

Join us for fun, food, friendship and a chance to finish all your last minute student tasks!  Representatives from various campus offices will be ready in one easily accessible location for you to purchase your parking pass permit and print your dashboard receipt, find and print your course schedule, take a tour to find your classrooms, take your ID photo, clarify any Financial Aid questions, pay your bill, buy your football tickets, and more! Enjoy free hamburger and hot dogs, entertainment and games while you're here! Free and open to all students.

Free shuttle service throughout the event from these local apartment locations:  Copper Beach, Palazzo, Castle Rock, University Village, Bulldog Village.  First shuttle pick up: 2:30 p.m., last shuttle depart Fresno State: 7:30 p.m.

For a complementary parking permit for this event, use parking permit code 621501 at any permit dispenser on campus. The code is only available on August 20th from 12 noon to 8pm.

Student Health and Counseling Center Welcome

August 21-27
Time: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on August 21 and 22, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on August 25-27
Location: Student Health and Counseling Center at Shaw and Barton

Your Student Health and Counseling Center staff and volunteers will be outside of the building to welcome you to campus, answer questions about our services, and give you FREE stuff to start your semester off right!

Luau Pool & Maleficient Movie Party

Location: Fresno State Aquatics Center

Make a splash and cool off in our Olympic-sized pool, rock to live steel drum band, dive in movie screening of Maleficent. Free and open to all students.

Revitalize Fresno State Community Service Project

Saturday, August 23, 2014
Time: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Make a difference for those in need while you make new friends at Fresno State! We’ll gather on-campus for continental breakfast and group introductions then travel by shuttle to Sierra Madre Neighborhood and El Dorado Park where you’ll distribute food to neighborhood residents. Following the service experience, we’ll shuttle back to campus and enjoy free lunch and fun at the Bulldog Pride tailgate.  Free and open to new students.

Free Bowling and Billiards

Location: University Student Union Bowling & Billiards Center

Strike while it’s hot and free! Today the University Student Union offers free bowling, billiards and Xbox gaming for Fresno State students. Come on in, cool off, shoot some pool and try out our new state-of-the-art bowling system. You can even take a selfie and blast it out to the scoring screens and your favorite social media sites. Free and open to all students.  

Bulldog Breakfast

Monday and Tuesday, August 25 and 26
Time: 7:30-10 a.m.
Location: Speaker platform outside USU

Kick-start the first full week of classes with a stop at our tent to pick up a free drink and some healthy treats, campus maps and beautifully sharpened pencils.

Turnt Up Tuesday & Club Sports Expo

Come check out your Student Recreation Center's awesome open house and get involved Club Sports teams! Featuring live DJ, free t-shirts, prizes and fun plus an opportunity to meet the Club Sports teams. Be sure to tour the Center's facilities, explore fitness classes & intramural opportunities, and learn more about Club Sports try-outs. Free and open to all students.

Traditions Day and Student Organizations Fair

Take a break with Timeout and get acquainted with our fine Fresno State traditions. Learn about Vintage Days, student government, Greek Life, and lots of other proud traditions from hundreds of active on campus student organizations. Find out how to get involved in life outside the classroom and get a flavor for our agricultural traditions including free samples of Fresno State ice cream and grilled corn. Learning Center Open House

Ever wonder where to go on campus for additional support with assignments or classes? If so, come and check out the Learning Center's Open House.  The Learning Center offers tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), academic coaching, and study strategies for Fresno State students to be successful in their classes. Free agendas will be available to all students in addition to raffle prizes and more. Pick up your tutoring, SI or Academic Success Workshop schedules this week!

Fresno State vs. USC Football Convoy

Time: Depart at 8:30 a.m., Kick off at 4 p.m., Return to campus at 12 midnight
Location: Departing from circle drive in front of University High School

Hop on board a double-decker bus headed to USC to support our Bulldogs in their game against USC! This awesome package deal includes your game ticket, Fresno State Alumni tailgate meal and round-trip bus ticket.  Limited supply available, sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Community Service Opportunities Fair

The Fall Community Service Opportunities Fair, open to students, faculty and staff, will feature over 75 community and campus agencies sharing volunteer, internship, and job opportunities. Students are able to personally meet with representatives from local community benefit organizations to learn about volunteer opportunities that can assist in fulfilling service-learning requirements. A sampling of agencies that have participated in past events include: American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Central CA Blood Center, Children's Hospital Central California, Fresno Fire Department, and Sierra Foothill Conservancy.

USU Bowling & Billiards Center Open House

Cross Cultural Celebration

The Fresno State community celebrates the richness of culture and diversity at our campus!  Check out music, entertainment, USFC Greek organizations, free refreshments and food, and more!  Events include:

  • Cross Cultural Festival Music and Performance Previews 11 am – 1pm / USU Balcony.  Get a taste of the various cultural performances and activities slated later in the evening.
  • Desserts from Around the World 11 am – 1pm / USU Balcony.  Sample various refreshing desserts from various cultures – get your taste buds ready for delicious treats!
  • Cross Cultural Festival and USFC Social: 7 – 9 pm / Front of Bookstore.  The celebration continues into the evening with cultural performances and interactive activities, live DJ and an opportunity to meet all the Greeks within Fresno State’s Multi-Cultural Greek Council.  Feast on free food reflective of the diverse tastes of the campus.

Blood and Marrow Registry Drive

Wednesday and Thursday, September 17 and 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at three campus bloodmobile locations:  University Student Union, Kremen Education Building, and Maple Mall at the end of the Rose Garden.
