Visiting Scholars
Each year, California State University, Fresno invites a limited number of foreign faculty from our sister universities to come to our campus for direct collaboration with faculty for a period ranging from two to 12 months. The placement of Visiting Scholars is based on the research discipline of the scholar and Fresno State mentor.
While Fresno State does not provide financial support, Visiting Scholars have full access to the Henry Madden Library and computing resources as well as shared office space. Fulbright recipients, IREX sponsored scholars, or candidates being sponsored by their home universities are welcome to apply.
Application process
After establishing contact with the Fresno State faculty member with whom you wish to collaborate, submit the following:
- Justification letter, including the proposed duration and dates of your intended stay
- Copy of your curriculum vitae
- Two-page summary of your research interests
- Photocopy of your passport showing the picture and passport number
The Fresno State faculty member will then complete a Visitor Exchange Form, obtain all required signatures on campus, and deliver these documents to the Study Abroad and International Exchanges Office, which will then issue a formal letter of invitation and a DS 2019 form for obtaining an entry visa to the U.S.
