The Fresno State Theatre Arts Department invites you and your students to visit our campus on Thursday, December 3 for our sixteenth annual OPEN HOUSE. This event gives college-bound high school students the opportunity to meet our faculty and to discover more about our programs in Theatre and Dance. The day includes workshops, orientation sessions, tours of the facility, and a pizza party. The event culminates with a final dress rehearsal of Bertolt Brecht's The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui: The Gangster Play, translated by Ed EmanuEl and Chris Zimmer and directed by Dr. Edward EmanuEl. It will be performed in the John Wright Theatre.
This year our Open House will hold scholarship auditions and interviews for any high school students who have applied to Fresno State for Fall 2010, and who are seriously considering a major in theatre or dance. Students who wish to audition or interview should pre-register through their sponsoring teacher by November 20th. Scholarship awards will be announced in Spring 2010.
NEW THIS YEAR: Monologue Showcase
In addition to the scholarship auditions, we will offer juniors and seniors the opportunity to participate in a “Monologue Showcase.” Acting guidelines will still apply. Please provide us with the names of any students who would like to participate in the Monologue Showcase by November 20 so we can estimate how many students to expect and plan accordingly.
Attention Teachers: You must download and submit the Registration Form in order to participate in the Open House. Each student who wants to audition or interview for a scholarship will need:
