The Daily Planet is a unique restaurant that offers live music
to its’ guests. The Daily Planet contains an art deco interior
design that continues the theme form the adjoining Tower Theatre
building. Jazz and swing can be heard from Tuesday to Thursday
nightly. The Daily Planet is located at the intersection of Wishon
and Olive.
The Scene:
Located in the Tower District where local artists and culture-seeking
java junkies congregate, The Planet serves up a fusion of culinary
treats. A distinction is made between what they call "Suppers" and "Entreées,";
suppers consist of things like the Planet burger, lobster quesadillas,
or Tandoori-style Shrimp Salad with Hummus and Spinach--all moderately
priced. The Entreées are a bit more expensive, but worth
the splurge for Duck Wontons with Gingered Duck Reduction Sauce
or Grilled Double Pork Chop with Apricot-Spinach Stuffing. A fixed-price
menu is also available and changes monthly. As for desserts, there
is one section devoted entirely to chocolate; that alone makes
it worth a visit.
If you order one thing:
One of their signature items, the Planet Pot Roast, although seemingly
ordinary, has an extra-ordinary taste. |
