Speaker Selection & Suggestions
How Speakers are Selected
- Speakers are recommended to the University Lecture Series (ULS) Director or an Advisory Board Member. Anyone is welcome to recommend a speaker. You may recommend a speaker by completing and submitting the online form that appears below.
- Each recommendation is researched.
- Information is presented to the Advisory Board and they indicate their preferences.
- This list is presented to the Provost for the final determination.
- The new season is announced in July or August for the upcoming academic year.
In the final selection, ULS considers the speaker's credentials, reputation, notoriety, public speaking ability, willingness to meet with campus groups, diversity, area of expertise (to insure variety within each season), and breadth of appeal as well as the fee.
