Mailing Services

The campus Mail and Warehouse Services staff members process thousands of pieces of mail daily. It is their responsibility to get university mail sorted and delivered in a timely manner.

They also assist campus personnel with questions about business reply mail and the postal economies to consider in planning printed pieces.

What procedures will assist with outgoing mail?
1. The return address on all outgoing university correspondence must include the university’s official name: California State University, Fresno. If Fresno State is used, the Post Office may elect to return the mail to you.

2. Typed addresses are preferred; hand-addressed mail, even if legible, may be delayed in delivery.

3. All address lines must show through window envelopes.

4. Domestic and foreign mail must be separated. Avoid mixing bundles when placing them in the mail bags.

5. Letter envelopes should not be overstuffed. Such envelopes will be returned to the office of origin
as unacceptable, since they will not seal when placed in the postage machines for processing.

What procedures will assist with incoming mail?
Departments need to contact mail personnel when someone has been added to their staff or when a person has been transferred to another department on campus. This information will allow Mail and Warehouse Services staff to sort mail to the correct location.

How do I obtain these services?
Contact Mail and Warehouse Services by calling ext. 8.2139. The center is located in the Shipping and Receiving Building at Barstow and Woodrow avenues.
