This course encompasses the development of knowledge and skills essential to education organizational leadership, and specifically to develop equity driven educational leaders who can create equitable school environments conducive to student learning and well-being.

EAD 262. Communities of Practice for Student Learning and Wellbeing

This course seminar is designed to enhance a candidate's ability to develop a student-centered vision of teaching and learning through the advancement of a collaborative culture informed by professional standards focused on student and professional growth.

EAD 263. Professional Learning for Teacher Growth

This is a seminar-based course with additional fieldwork hours focused on cultivating each candidate's capacity in supporting individual and collective teacher growth to impact student learning and well-being in P12 schools.

EAD 264. Seminar in the Legal Aspects of Education

Prerequisites: teaching experience; EAD 261. A case study approach in reviewing important court decisions, both state and federal, that have directly affected the public schools. Legal relationships in public education applied to federal, state, and local levels.

EAD 265. Seminar in School-Community Relations

Prerequisite: EAD 261. Seminar on interaction with community forces, news media, political agencies, and minority groups in policy analysis and development; databased decision-making and analysis.

Prerequisite: EAD 261. Economic perspectives and practices of school finance and business admin istration; local, state, and federal responsibility for financial support of education. (2 seminar hours)

EAD 269. Site-based Leadership

Prerequisites: EAD 261, EAD 262, EAD 263, EAD 272. Includes essentials of site leadership: school law, finance, community relations, personnel, and support services. In-depth research into restructuring, teacher empowerment, and student achievement in culturally diverse schools.

EAD 271. Leadership Seminar and Fieldwork 1

Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment with Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) Program Semester 1 or Coordinator approval for remedial purposes. This course seminar is designed to develop and support capacity of future P12 school leaders to apply foundational leadership concepts and performance expectations. Moving from theory to practice, candidates will receive coaching and supervision for administrative credentialing requirements of fieldwork and the performance assessment.

EAD 272. Leadership Seminar and Fieldwork 2

Prerequisites: EAD 261 and 271 with concurrent enrollment Preliminary Administrative Services Credential {PASC) Program EAD 262 or Coordinator approval for remedial purposes. This course seminar is designed to develop and support capacity of future P12 school leaders to apply foundational leadership concepts and performance expectations. Moving from theory to practice, candidates will receive media/video technical assistance, coaching and supervision for administrative credentialing requirements of fieldwork and the performance assessment.

EAD 273. Site-Based Leadership and Fieldwork 3

Prerequisites: Admission into the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) Program, EAD 261, EAD 262, EAD 271, and EAD 272. Concurrent enrollment in EAD 263. This course seminar is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of a site-based leader in a student-centered approach through the examination of essential practices and processes in:. school law, finance, community relations, personnel, parent and family engagement, and support services.

Equip students with the knowledge and skill to create systemic and systematic responses to adress the diverse levels of student need and use evidence of student learning to create and deeply embed a culture of equity and continuous improvement.

EAD 275. Seminar in Advanced Techniques of Personnel Administration in Education

Prerequisite: EAD 261. Advanced techniques of staff improvement in-service, staff participation in policy making, improvement of communication channels and methods of communication, economic and contractual relationships,and improvement of working condition; work and responsibility of nonteaching staff members.

EAD 276. Instructional Assessment and Analysis

Prerequisites: Admittance to the Educational Leadership and Administration Program. This course focuses on building knowledge and skills to develop, deploy and sustain a quality school performance measurement system. Candidates will analyze and use performance data and information to drive next best step decisions and continuous system improvement. (Formerly EAD 280T)

EAD 277. Computer Applications in Education Administration

Prerequisite: preliminary credential or permission of instructor. Factors relating to assessment and implementation of computer applications to support educational programs and administrative operations in school districts, including computer assisted instruction, student personnel, fiscal and property controls, personnel, and related educational and business functions characteristic of school districts. (2 seminar, 2 lab hours)

Prerequisite: preliminary credential or permission of instructor. Seminar covering special topics relating to education administration: new developments in education administration, special populations, and current research.

EAD 279. Advanced Administration Fieldwork

Prerequisites: employment in a position requiring an Administrative Services Credential and permission of instructor. Supervision of Professional Administrative Services Credential candidates in their place of employment. The type of assignment will depend on requirements of the university and will be individually developed in corporation with candidate's employer. Includes seminar discussion of field experience and required research. CR/NC only. (40 hours required for 1 unit)

EAD 280T. Topics in Professional Development

Prerequisite: preliminary credential or adviser permission. Advanced-level studies in theory, procedures, and application of education administration principles. Includes such topics as: community advisory committees, marshalling resources, interventions for school improvements, technology utilization, and restructuring. CR/NC only.

EAD 281. Transformational Leadership

Prerequisite: EAD 283 and permission of instructor. A course for experienced practitioners in organizational development. Interventions for restructuring, including site-based management, staff development, strategic planning, and team building, as well as individual and community iterventions aimed at transforming schools and other organizations into world class operations.

Prerequisites: preliminary administrative services credential, full-time employment in an administrative position, and permission of instructor. A professional development course is required for the professional administrative services credential. First course among advanced credential requirements. RP or CR/NC grading only.

EAD 284. Professional Development Assessment

Prerequisites: completion of professional administrative services credential coursework and permission of instructor. A professional development course is required for the professional administrative services credential to verify satisfactory completion of the induction plan and individualized course of study to meet the advanced credential requirements. Final course among the advanced credential requirements. CR/NC only.

EAD 287. Internship I

Prerequisites: employment in a position requiring an administrative services credential, concurrent enrollment in EAD 261, and permission of adviser. Supervised administrative practice with emphasis on leadership, school management, classroom supervision, and community relations, while employed in a full time position requiring an administrative services credential. Includes seminar discussion of internship experiences, professional development plan, and required research. CR/NC only. (CSU liability insurance fee, $8)

Prerequisites: employment in a position requiring an administrative services credential, completion of EAD 261, EAD 262, EAD 272, and CI 285, taken concurrently with EAD 263 and EAD 269, and permission of adviser. Supervised administrative practice with emphasis on continuation of professional development plan, leadership, school management, classrooms supervision, and community relations. Student must be employed in a full time position requiring an administrative credential. Includes seminar discussions of internship experiences and required research. CR/NC only. Prerequisites: HEAL 220 and HEAL 221. This course examines topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of Higher Education. Development and knowledge of theories related to diversity, equity, and social justice will be explored. (Formerly EAD 278T)

Prerequisites: HEAL 220 and HEAL 221. This course examines foundational theories and approaches to the study of students in higher education. Development and knowledge of theories and skills supporting college students will be explored.

HEAL 224. Foundations of Inquiry and Applied Research in Higher Education

Prerequisites: HEAL 220 and HEAL 221. The purpose of this course is for students to understand, interpret, and apply knowledge in a higher education context. The course will examine the foundations of theory, discuss epistemological and ontological foundations, explore theoretical frameworks, research designs, and the use of institutional data with an emphasis in higher education contexts. Prerequisites: HEAL 220 and HEAL 221. This course examines foundational theories and approaches of higher education leadership and student affairs. Development and knowledge of theories and skills in supervision will also be explored.

Prerequisite: HEAL 224. This course reviews foundational knowledge and skills related to assessment in higher education and leadership in creating more learner-centered environments. Reading material encompasses the study of a wide variety of outcomes-based assessment methods and instruments used in higher education, including classroom and program assessment techniques.
